Osaka in Joliet offers a straightforward, no-frills buffet experience centered on Asian flavors with a particular nod to Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Situated on Colorado Avenue, this spot serves up a mix of dishes ranging from sushi and hibachi to classic buffet staples like sweet and sour chicken and crab legs. The atmosphere feels functional and well-lit, designed more for diners looking to enjoy a hearty meal than an extended fine dining experience.

Visitors who come with a healthy appetite will appreciate the breadth of options, especially seafood lovers who can find crab, lobster, and a variety of sushi rolls including tofu and avocado sushi or mango roll. The hibachi section gets special mention for its customized flavors, thanks to attentive staff ready to adjust seasonings on request. This shows the kitchen makes an effort to accommodate different tastes, which can be a nice touch if you prefer your dishes mild or with a little extra kick.

Osaka is best suited for casual dinners, family outings, or groups who want variety in one sitting without breaking the bank. The pricing hovers around the low $20s per person, which includes drinks like hot tea—an uncommon plus for buffet places in this price range. The crowd here tends to appreciate accessibility and quantity more than a polished ambiance, and the brightly lit dining area supports a no-hassle, comfortable environment rather than a lingering or romantic vibe.

It’s also important to note some practicality: if you’re planning to tackle the crab legs, bringing your own crab crackers or requesting them could enhance the experience, as the shells can be tricky to handle otherwise. Dessert options and salads are given some attention, rounding out meals with sweet sesame balls or fresh fruit additions like watermelon and grapes.

In summary, Osaka works well for those seeking a reliable Asian buffet option close to home in Joliet, especially if you’re in the mood for seafood and sushi mixed with familiar Chinese buffet hits. It’s a place where locals come for a satisfying plate and straightforward service rather than atmosphere-driven dining or culinary innovation.

Friendly staff at all you can eat Hibachi and Chinese Buffet. Hibachi selection is great and staff works with you to customize the flavor to your liking. Overall, not a bad selection for price. Some items were not as expected thus 1 less star but will be back if in the area

Had dinner at BC Osaka on 5/28/25. My review is on the standard of a Chinese buffet in the region. Total cost was $20.07, which includes a $0.50 charge for using my debit card. I felt I got my money’s worth for $20.07. The $20.07 includes the cost of whatever drink or drinks you want. My “go to” drink is hot tea. If you want other drinks there is no additional charge. In addition to the multiple rows of buffets of Chinese food, there’s also to hibachi grill where a cook will flattop grill cook a plate of raw ingredients that you put on the plate from the buffet of options. My hibachi grill selection today included steak, shrimp, chicken, broccoli, shallots (I think), onions, and Broccoli. The main down side to me was the condition of the bathroom. The bathroom itself wasn’t all that bad, but was riddled with political carvings and marker from 2024. A 10 minutes paint touch up job would have gotten rid of these markings (which was about 6 months or more ago). Back to the food… overall, the food was good quality on par for a Chinese buffet. The buffet included all the main items you’d expect from a Chinese buffet and the cook quality seemed great.

Great crunchy well-seasoned crabs, well-cooked seafood, crisp veggies, good kimchi, tasty jello flavors, wide selection desserts, good ambience, well-lit. Buffet is worth the cost when you come with a healthy appetite. I’d only suggest that they should offer crab crackers for anyone who requests them, so that part of the crabs that are too tough —we can still open and eat the meat inside. Otherwise —this is a good buffet option.

Buffets are always hit or miss. Well this area of of the county nothing close. I usually travel to stone park and that buffet it worth the travel. But gas cost and price but you want quality awesome food it's going to cost. So we travel. Not anymore 5 minutes away from the house price food and service atmosphere. And quality is everything i want in a buffet. And phenomenally delicious

It costs $21.39 (with tax included) per person. What I ate was good but i wish they had more seafood options. They had some anyway: sushi, octopus, shrimps, crab meat and fish . I am not a Pepsi fan and it is what they have. The waitress was friendly.
